Trust Activities

 

Blake Park -
As well as developing and maintaining the Bay Oval ground at Blake Park, the Trust is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of 4 club grass wicket blocks.


Artificial Wickets and Practice Wickets Bay wide -
As part of our Charitable Trust objectives, The Bay Oval trust is working in conjunction with funders, councils, schools and clubs to improve and increase cricket facilities around the Bay of Plenty.

The Bay Oval Trust has now built all 5 of the grass wicket blocks at Blake park (used predominantly for club cricket) as well as providing support to other providers of grass wickets including the Te Puke Cricket Club, Rotorua Council and Otumoetai College.

In 2015 the Trust commenced a project to either relay existing or provide new artificial cricket practice nets and playing wickets. These projects are listed below.

Lynmore Primary School, Rotorua. New wicket

Te Puke Cricket Club. Ne Wicket and resurface of Practice wickets and runnups.
Mount Maunganui Primary School. New Wicket
Aquinas College, Re surface of existing wicket
Fairhaven School, Te Puke. Re surface of artificial wicket
Mt Cricket Club, Blake Park. Project managed new 4 lane net construction
Bay Indoor Sports, Newton St, Mt Maunganui. Donation of artificial grass and nets for new 4 lane indoor training facility
Katikati Cricket Club, funding towards a new artificial wicket.

Te Puke Domain -
The Bay Oval Trust provides expertise and management assistance to the Te Puke Cricket Club for the maintenance of their outfield and wicket block at the Te Puke Domain. The Trust has also recently facilitated the purchase of a new roller for the club.


Indoor cricket training facilities -
The Trust is currently working with a private provider to ensure Indoor cricket training facilities are available to the Western Bay of Plenty Community. The Trust has provided nets and flooring to this facility.


Turf Expertise -
Through the experience of the Bay Oval Trust Turf Manager, Jared Carter, The Trust provides Turf manafement advice to a number of groups including the Te Puke Cricket Club, Otumoetai College, Opotiki Cricket Club, Eastern BOP Cricket, Tauranga City Council and Rotorua Council.


Fundraising Opportunities -
Through Cricket match activities at The Bay Oval the Trust has assisted teams and groups with funding opportunities. This includes Tauranga Boys' College, Mt Maunganui Cricket Club and Western Bay Junior Cricket.
